John Keepper, 73, resident of Lake Bluff for 43 years, died Saturday, August 18th, 2012 of a stroke. He was surrounded by family and friends. John will be missed every day by his wife of 47 years, Beth, four children, David (Amy), Peter (Jennifer), Katie (Chad) and Andrew (Sara) and eight cherished grandchildren. John was born in Waukegan on October 17, 1938 to the late Martha and Lester Keepper. After graduating from Lake Forest College in 1961, he attended OCS in Newport, Rhode Island and was commissioned in the US Navy as a missile fire control officer aboard the USS Topeka. He served in Vietnam before returning to Long Beach, California where he met his wife, Beth. Together they moved to Illinois to raise their family. John spent his business career as a commercial real estate broker, both with his own company and with CB Richard Ellis and Caldwell Banker Commercial. He was the founding president of the Illinois chapter of the CCIM. John was a true patriot with many passions including sailing and racing his boat “Scotch Mist” in the Mac, singing tenor in the Church of the Holy Spirit choir, socializing with the church “Old Dogs,” woodworking, and taking his beloved Lab, Buddy on walks and swims in the lake. Services will be held Saturday, September 15th at 11:00 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 E Westminster Rd., Lake Forest. Memorials may be made in John’s name to the “Church of the Holy Spirit Choir Fund.”
