| Bernard M. “Bub” Prais, 78 a lifelong resident of Lake Forest, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2011. Bernard was born September 5, 1933 to Bernard and Evelyn Prais. He joined the Baltimore Orioles Baseball farm team in 1953. In 1956 he joined the Lake Forest Police Department, graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, climbing the ranks to retire in 1984 as the Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety. After retiring “Bub” enjoyed gardening in his yard and helping others with their garden, golfing and traveling with the family. He was preceded in death by Patricia, his best friend and loving wife of 40 years in 1994. He is survived by his children Cheryl A. (Vince) Piat, Cynthia J. (Steve) Dietz, and Robert E. Prais, also by grandchildren Caitlin and Benjamin Piat, Justin Dietz and brothers Byron J. (Ruth) and Sheldon C. (Marylee), sisters in law Joanne McAndrews and Elaine Snider and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 30, 2011 at The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest. Interment will be private at Lake Forest Cemetery. Visitation 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Ave., Lake Forest.
