| Frank L. Butterfield, Jr., 84, resident of Lake Bluff for 8 years, former lifetime resident of Lake Forest, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Westmoreland Nursing Center. Frank was born April 4, 1927 at Alice Hospital in Lake Forest, IL and spent 37 years working for Commonwealth Edison. He was a WWII veteran of the Army and a member of the Lake Forest American Legion Post 264 for the past 65 years where he was a member of the Rifle Squad. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and volunteered his time for many years to driving the Lake Forest – Lake Bluff senior car. He was a longtime parishioner and usher at the Church of St. Mary, Lake Forest. Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Ahlberg Butterfield; children Mary (James) Peddle and Gary (Ginny) Butterfield; grandchildren Heather (Jeff) Mulhearn, Hillary (Steve) Zank; great grandchildren Cameron, Madison, Jimmy, Justin, Kevin and Dominic; sisters, Helen O’Neill and the late Ruth Lichtwalt and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
