Thomas Magistad Anderson, 80, passed away at his home in Lake Bluff, Ill., on June 19, 2018.
Tom often returned to visit his childhood home in Door County, where he enjoyed fishing, hiking and cross county skiing. He was born December 28, 1937, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., to Thomas “Reuben" Anderson and Gertrude (Magistad) Anderson.
He attended Sturgeon Bay High School and the University of Wisconsin at Madison, graduating in 1960 with a degree in English Literature. He was a proud member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. Then for the next four years, he served as an Officer in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Lewis Washington and South Korea as a First Lieutenant. Returning to Madison, he attended the University of Wisconsin Law School. Immediately after graduation, he was hired by the First National Bank of Chicago. Even though the bank changed ownership several times, Tom remained in the same building as a trust attorney within the wealth management division until his retirement in 2003. While there he was involved with many charitable clients and administered numerous trusts supporting many local organizations.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anne Elizabeth (Bauer) Anderson, and his sons, Thomas Anderson Jr. (Hollie Nelson) and Bendix Anderson (Vanessa DeSantis). He will be greatly missed by his two grandchildren Dylan and Sonja. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Robert Anderson (Erika Eberhardt-deceased) and his sister, Malla Marie Anderson (William Barker). He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers and the Door County artist Gerhardt Miller.
