Raymond L. Pierobon, 92, died June 1, 2018 at the Balmoral Care Center in Lake Forest, IL with several members of his loving family at his side. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth of over 66 years. He is survived by the three children: Nancy P. (William) Hensel, James R. (Andrea) Pierobon and Catherine M. (Greg) Barcus, plus five grandchildren Brian Hensel (Kristina), Megan (J.T.) Gripe, Jeffrey Hensel, Elizabeth (Richard) Schoenrock, and Mimi Pierobon; two step grandchildren, Morgan Powell (Jason Lawrence), and Drew Powell. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Addison, Paityn and Parker Hensel; Annabell and Benjamin Gripe; and Richard and William Schoenrock; his sister Marie (Richard) Drake of Atlanta GA, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ray grew up in Westmont, IL. He attended Downers Grove High School, trained and served in the Army Air Corps as World War II was ending. Ray earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He began his professional career at Nabisco and then with the advertising firm Needham Louis and Brorby (DDB Needham Worldwide). In 1958, Ray was invited to join Morton Salt Company’s marketing team. There he helped manage the company’s well-known slogan – “When It Rains, It Pours” – and the continuing evolution of Morton Salt’s Umbrella Girl. He retired from Morton in 1989 as the company’s Vice President of Marketing. Ray was an avid Chicago Bear fan holding season-tickets for over 35 years. Playing the piano and drums were his favorite hobbies. He and Ruth enjoyed playing golf throughout the country, traveling much of Europe with close friends and embracing each addition of their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The Pierobon family appreciates the wonderful care and comfort given to Ray from the entire staff at Balmoral Care, especially CNAs Donna and Adam.
