Obituary for Patricia C Flynn

Patricia C. Flynn, 86, a lifelong resident of Lake Forest, Ill, passed away in peace on Oct 19, 2017. She was born on September 5, 1931, in Lake Forest to parents Charles F. Clarke and Virginie D. Clarke, and lived a life of joy surrounded by family and friends. Patricia attended the Bell School in Lake Forest, graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Noroton, CT in 1949 and attended Smith College in Northhampton, MA. She married Edward P. Flynn (NY) in 1952 and is survived by her three children Edward J. Flynn (NY), Helen C. Flynn (CA) and Robin V. Flynn (CA), son-in-law Thomas S. Wagner, and 5 grandchildren - Ryan Humphrey, Tyler Humphrey, Samantha Wagner, Chip Wagner and Adrian Flynn - who adored their “Grandy”. She was also blessed by her loving connection to siblings, brother Charles F. Clarke II and sister Louise C. Hough, and sister-in-law, Eleanor O. Clarke and late brother-in-law John Hough, who, together, created strong family connections with a wide network of beloved cousins. Patricia enjoyed a long friendship with the late Alexander L. Cochrane. While living in NY, she loved being chief assistant in the fashion industry to Jeanne Campbell of Sportwhirl, Inc. An avid sportswoman, tennis player and outdoor enthusiast in her youth, Patricia also excelled in bridge and was an active player in North Shore bridge circles. In later years, she very much enjoyed traveling the world, often with her sister Louise. She especially loved spending Christmas at Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs, where she created a 20-year cherished family tradition for her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Parish at 175 E. Illinois Road in Lake Forest on Sat, Oct 28 at 10am with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, kind donations to Journey Care Hospice would be gratefully appreciated at 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL, 60025.
