Janet Newell Hilliard, 92, of Lake Forest, died March 30, 2017 at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born March 3, 1925, in Chicago, to Jonathan C. and Elsie (Breitling) Newell. Janet lived her life by the famous quote of Winston Churchill...”Never, Never, Never Give In". Her devotion to this quote was evident and fully realized when she became a proud graduate from Barat College in 2005, at the age of 80 years young. Janet was a realtor in Lake Forest and a member of the Illinois State Board of Realtors for over two decades. She was a member of the Colonial Dames. Janet was a leader in the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as Past Regent of the North Shore Chapter. She was also a volunteer at Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart where her daughter, Jo Ann, matriculated. She is survived by her children, Jo Ann (Mark W.) Holland, Rob (Mary Ellen) Hilliard and Rich (Kathryn) Hilliard. Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Janet Newell Hilliard, Jr. She is also survived by her grandchildren Mark N. Holland, Jane K. and Caroline Janet Hilliard and Henry, Jack, and Mary Hilliard. A visitation will be held at the Woodlands Academy chapel on Friday, April 7th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and a Funeral Mass will also be held at Woodlands on Saturday, April 8th at 10:30 am.
